RUBBER BLADE

RUBBER BLADE

Are all squeegee rubbers the same?
No, there are many types from pre cut and sharpened to self cut and sharpened.
There are soft and hard rubbers, cheap and expensive. The goal is to find the one your most comfortable with and stick to it.

When should you change the squeegee rubber?
The life of the rubber really depends on what it is
used for.  Generally, your squeegee rubber will last 40
work hours, 20 hours on both sides.  Squeegee rubbers
are easily nicked or cut by objects on windows, like
copper address number’s on a store front door. Always
keep 2 or 3 extras squeegee rubber blades in your car or
pocket to use in case of a Nic or cut.

How can you tell there is a Nic or cut in the rubber?
There are a few ways:

1. QUICK TIP TEST: glide your finger tip along the edge to feel for a Nic or a grab.
2.  QUICK LIP TEST: glide your bottom lip on the edge (not the most hygienically safe).
3.  QUICK USE TEST: if you are leaving streak lines from each pass, the squeegee probably a Nic or cut in the rubber and either flip the rubber or change it.

I have a new blade in the channel but I Am still streaking?
This could be for multiple reasons, the angle of your stroke, the amount of chemical in the water, or a bent squeegee channel.

Although we touched on some reasons for streaking, there are still many more reasons that for streaking  but space will not allow. We will, however, talk about other types of streaking in this guide.  Streaking caused by human error, yup, the most common streaks are made even by professionals.
